Frequently Asked Questions
What Can I Expect At Your Gatherings?
The elements of our corporate gathering include instruction from the Bible, discussion, meaningful times of singing to the Savior, prayer, communion, and hanging out with each other. We strive to be faithful to the teachings of the Bible, so our corporate gatherings are designed to train and equip those who are already followers of Christ. However, our house church gatherings are less structured than the typical church service and are a great way to introduce your non-Christian friends to the claims of Christ. We encourage everyone to invite their unsaved friends, co-workers, neighbors and family members to these meetings.
What Kind of Training/Experience Do Your Leaders Have?
Our current crop of leaders all have years of experience as Senior Pastors of the more traditional church, and have seminary educations. Our leaders have years of experience developing leaders, and are committed to training them in the essentials so they are equipped to effectively lead.
How Do You Support the Ministry?
We are completely self-supporting! We have very little overhead expenses because our meeting places are free and our leaders volunteer their time. It is hard to believe, but we take zero offerings! We encourage everyone who is a part of The Church Up the Street to be generous with their money, by giving to those in need and to ministries they believe are deserving.
Can You Pray for Me?
Absolutely! Simply call us at 719-231-7839, or email us and let us know how we can pray for you. If contacting us by email, ,make sure to give us your phone number so we can call and pray with you!
Do You Have a Problem with the Traditional Church?
Absolutely not! Our leaders were discipled in the traditional church, served in it and have pastored the traditional church. A tremendous amount of fruit has been produced as a result of the traditional church model. We love the church, and we see our model as an extension, not a replacement of, the the traditional way of "doing church."
